The electoral landscape in Sierra Leone is abuzz with anticipation as the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone takes charge of the collation and announcement of election results from various polling units across towns, chiefdoms, and districts.
On June 24, 2023, Sierra Leone witnessed an eventful day as citizens exercised their democratic rights by participating in elections aimed at selecting candidates for the esteemed positions of president, parliament members, mayor/chairperson, and councilors.
After the successful completion of voting at polling units and the subsequent announcement of results, the process of tallying and collating commenced at regional levels. These results will then be consolidated at the national headquarters. The Bintumani Conference Center in Freetown will serve as the venue for the official declaration of results once the tallying process concludes.
Commencing at 7 am, the elections witnessed the opening of numerous polling units as reported by the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL). However, logistical challenges caused the voting process to extend into the late hours of Saturday.
