President Maada Bio Holds Bilateral Meeting with Republic of Korea’s Prime Minister

Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio Vows to Strengthen Relations with Republic of Korea’s Prime Minister

Sierra Leone’s President, Dr Julius Maada Bio, held a successful bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Han Duck-soo of the Republic of Korea, where they both committed to deepening relations between the two countries.

Expressing gratitude to the Government of the Republic of Korea for their bilateral support to Sierra Leone, President Julius Maada Bio reiterated his country’s determination to learn from their efforts towards sustainable development. The President also highlighted Sierra Leone’s progress in investing in human capital development, his flagship project, and his priority for food security in his second term.

In response, Prime Minister Han Duck-soo expressed commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Sierra Leone, with a particular emphasis on trade facilitation. The Prime Minister also informed President Bio about the Korea-Africa Leaders’ Summit, underscoring the importance of building a stronger relationship between the Republic of Korea and Africa.

The Republic of Korea and Sierra Leone established diplomatic relations on June 25, 1962. Notably, the Korean government funded the construction of the new Freetown City Hall, a towering fifteen-story building that graces Freetown’s skyline, with USD 55 million, and with the help of Korean engineers.

The bilateral meeting between the President of Sierra Leone and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea is a significant step towards strengthening diplomatic ties between the two countries.
