Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters

Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters

Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters is a model and winner of a beauty pageant from South Africa. In November 2017, she was named Miss Universe, a few months after she won the Miss South Africa 2017 title. She is only the second person from South Africa to win the Miss Universe title since it began in 1956. Margaret Gardiner won the crown in 1978, almost 40 years before her. After she won, she went to many places, including the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, France, Mexico, Ecuador, India, Lebanon, Egypt, Malaysia, and many cities in South Africa and the United States. On December 17, 2018, in Bangkok, Thailand, she gave the crown to her successor, Catriona Gray of the Philippines. She is going to marry Tim Tebow, who used to play football professionally and now plays baseball professionally.

Get to the Top

Demi-Leigh While in college, Nel-Peters worked part time as a model for Boss Models and Vision Management Cape Town. She started going to beauty pageants when she was in her late teens, and she did so for four years before she became famous around the world. In 2017, she went to the Miss South Africa 2017 competition for the Western Cape, which she won. As Miss South Africa, she was given the chance to represent South Africa at both Miss World 2017 and Miss Universe 2017, but because their schedules clashed, she could only go to one and was sent to Las Vegas, Nevada, for the Miss Universe competition. She won the title by making it through all of the rounds of the competition. The winner from the year before, Iris Mittenaere, gave her the crown. She is the second person from South Africa to win a title, after Margaret Gardiner, who was crowned Miss Universe in 1978.

Philanthropy

Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters used the global stage to talk about how a scary event led her to start a self-defense workshop for women called “Unbreakable.” The goal of the workshop is to give women more power by teaching them how to protect themselves. One month after she became Miss South Africa, she was carjacked and held at gunpoint by thugs in Hyde Park in Johannesburg. Thanks to her self-defense training, she was able to punch one of them in the throat and get away to get help.

Family and other things

Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters was born in Sedgefield, Western Cape, on June 28, 1995. Her parents are Bennie Peters and Anne-Marie Steenkamp. They have split up and remarried. She lives in Sedgefield with her mom and step-dad, while her dad and step-mom live in Potchefstroom. Her father, who used to work for a company, recently opened a hotel in Potchefstroom called Sunset Manor Guest House. Johan Steenkamp, who works in the building business, is married to her mother, who is an interior designer and a landscaper. Her father married a clinical psychologist named Elzabé Peters, and they have a daughter named Franje who was born without a cerebellum and is completely disabled. In an interview, she said that her step-sister is the thing that drives her the most. She gets along great with her stepparents. She was the first girl at her school to be in charge of both the school and the girls’ hostel. In the 11th grade, she was chosen to be the George City Council’s Deputy Junior Mayor. She then went to North-West University and got a bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Entrepreneurship. She speaks English and Afrikaans well. She loves to read and also likes to travel and do things outside, such as trail runs, hiking, and road races. Benji and Baxter are the names of her two Yorkie dogs.

Having to do with Tim Tebow

Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters and Tim Tebow met for the first time in 2018 at a charity event in South Africa called “Night to Shine.” This event was put on by Tebow’s foundation. She was invited to the event, which is a prom night for kids with special needs, with her sister. Both of them were very religious, and that’s how they met. Since then, they’ve been together. On August 14, 2018, she posted a picture of them together on Instagram and wished him a happy birthday. This was the first time they said they were dating on Instagram. The next month, she posted another photo from their Thanksgiving celebration in America, which included his parents, her parents, and her step-parents. On January 11, 2019, they both posted pictures from their engagement ceremony on Instagram. The ceremony took place on January 9 at Tebow’s family farm in Jacksonville, Florida. He secretly flew her family from South Africa to be there for the big day. They went on a romantic walk on his family’s land and stopped by a lake where he had written the date of their first date on an arbor. Then, to her surprise, he got down on one knee and gave her a 7.25-carat solitaire ring to ask her to marry him. They had dinner at a club in Jacksonville, and then, to celebrate their engagement, they went to Disney World.
