A kenyan man killed at Qatar worldcup

A Kenyan working as Security guard at Qatar World Cup dies after fall while on duty at the Lusail Stadium

A Kenyan national serving as a security guard at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar was found dead at the Lusail Stadium after a fall that occurred while he was on the job. According to his sister Ann Wanjiru, the migrant worker’s employer informed the family on Saturday that John Njue Kibue, 24, had fallen while on duty from the stadium’s 8th floor. The Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, which was in charge of organizing the World Cup, issued a statement in which they confirmed Kibue’s passing.

“We regret to announce that, despite the efforts of his medical team, he sadly passed away in hospital on Tuesday 13 December, after being in the intensive care unit for three days,” the statement added.

“His next of kin have been informed. We send our sincere condolences to his family, colleagues and friends during this difficult time.”

The committee made the announcement earlier this week that Kibue had sustained significant injuries after falling while on duty. According to the statement, the organizers of the tournament in Qatar are conducting an immediate inquiry into the chain of events that led up to the collapse, and they intend to disclose additional information pending the outcome of the investigation. In addition to this, they also promised to make sure that his family is compensated for all outstanding debts and money owed to him.

According to his medical records, he had been unresponsive since the previous Saturday and was hooked up to a machine that assisted him in breathing. On Monday morning, a member of his family was given the news that he had passed away.

However, the security guard’s family claims that his Qatari company, Al Sraiya Security Services, has not provided an explanation for how the security guard fell or any of the other events that surrounded his death.

After another migrant worker was reportedly killed in an accident at a resort used by Saudi Arabia during the group stages of the tournament, he is the second migrant worker to be reported deceased in the Gulf nation since the beginning of the competition.
